Altrincham 1 v 0 Result Wrexham Fa Trophy Replay Tuesday 15th Dec 2009

After a rocky horror first match at The Racecourse last saturday where after missing a 4th min penalty, Wrexham never looked like scoring and this will now be our 2nd meeting of Altrincham in a month as we play them home and away in the league in next two weeks. Lets be honest Altrincham are a very poor team and we should be taking these teams to th'd cleaners but we are too slow when we break with the ball supporting the player and by the time the supporting cast arrive in the box the opportunity has gone. Spann who I am not the biggest fan of actually put in some fantastic crosses last Saturday but no one was on the end of them, because they never made any real threatening runs and its the same week in week out although we looked better with Gareth Taylor and Marc Williams out of the side as we at least tried playing football on the floor. The only positive I take from last Saturday's match is the return of Sam Russell in goal whose distribution was excellent with pinpoint passes to our players apart from the one mis-kick which I will let him off with but I suspect that Maxwell will return between the posts tonight as Saunders never picks the players in form and will stick with the tried tested and failed formula which has served him so well this season. http://www.altrinchamfc.co.uk/alty1.htm Wrexham line up as follows:- Russell Mani Westwood Spann Taylor Fairhurst Baynes Taboubi Jonah Sakho Williams
A recall for Jonah in midfield, Russell has kept his place in goal, a surprise recall for Taboubi after his recent performances have not been the best after a good start at beginning of season where he looked a very good player and a deserved place for Fairhurst who must be wondering why he has not been playing with our dismal performances. Half time here its still no goals but one way traffic and usual story Wrexham cant score to save their lives. About 150 Wrexham fans have made the journey here and that is good support considering the performances Wrexham have put in lately.
2nd half and Wrexham make a sub about ten mins into the 2nd half with Baynes going off with an injury and Chesielwicz coming on. Its now Altrincham 1 Wrexham 0 and things are going from bad to worse for Dean Saunders who really must be hanging on to his job by the skin of his teeth. Wrexham are knocked out of the Cup by Altrincham after dominating most of the two games but just cant score a goal for love or money and even after 4 min injury time Wrexham were not pushing forward enough and Spann takes a corner only for it to sail over everyone. Man Of The Match was the Altrincham keeper which tells you just how this game was but like I say we never really threatened their goal and Marc Williams hit the post when he should have scored.

Wrexham v Altrincham Sat 12th Dec 2009 Sakho missed penalty.MP4

Watch Lamine Sakho miss penalty for Wrexham in the 4th min of The Fa Vase Trophy v Altrincham 12th December 2009

Wrexham v Altrincham Sat December 2009

About eight degrees at the Racecourse and with ticket prices reduced by just 2-3 pounds this could be the lowest ever attendance at the Racecourse on a Saturday afternoon and it serves Wrexham right. It was good to see Sam Russell back in goal and his distribution was second to none as he could and did pick out a player every time except for the mis kick during 2nd half and didnt just hoof the ball upfield hoping we win it and didnt I think he should stay in the side. Even though he didnt have much to do he commands his area better, comes for the high balls and his all round game is better than Maxwell's and thats the only positive to come from this game as Wrexham were awful. With less than 3 mins played Spann was brought down and Sakho put the penalty wide. Mike Williams missed a free header and Altrincham were shocking and not till the 2nd half did they put a few passes together. Awful game and with Wrexham desperate to avoid a replay Saunders brings on Mark Williams, the striker who has not scored a goal in his 19th match. I could not believe it. Yes it finished 0-0 to a chorus of boos.

Saunders On Way Out? Friday 11th December 2009

Just been told that something big is going on at Colliers Park this morning involving Dean Saunders which they Wrexham are trying to keep quiet. Has Dean Saunders played his last game as Wrexham manager after a disastrous season so far. As soon as I find out exactly what is happening I will post on here. Dean Saunders Update:- Dean Saunders who normally puts in a full shift every day of the week has been coming in late and going home early and he has emptied his desk at Colliers Park. Read into this what you will.

York City 2 Wrexham 1 Saturday 5th December 2009

Wrexham with Marc Williams on the bench started slowly and paid the price after just 6 mins when they conceded a goal that angered Wrexham as they felt that Curtis Obeng was fouled but despite protests the goal stood and that was still the score at half time. 2nd half it was all Wrexham and despite having nearly all the possession when we got to the final third of the field we dont know what to do and the attack breaks down time and time again. but with the home fans getting restless Wrexham could sense a goal and were playing neat attractive football with the useless Marc Williams on the bench and looked a lot better for him being dropped. Surely soon we would get the equaliser we surely deserved but its a cruel game and after Gareth Taylor had his goal disallowed for offside a few mins later York were celebrating a 2nd goal of the day totally against the run of play and with less than ten mins left it was game over. Wrexham two mins after conceding a second goal pulled one back through Andy Fleming, surely we cant get another I thought and even though we pushed forward in the dying mins the points were lost and Wrexham go home empty handed when they deserved all three points. The only good thing I heard yesterday was Wrexham are close to bringing in two new players and thats come from a very good source.

York City v Wrexham Saturday 5th December 2009 Kick Off 3pm

http://www.statto.com/football/odds/england/conference-premier/york-city-v-wrexham/match-odds Frank Sinclair set to sign new one year deal and if he does it will be excellent news even if he will be 39 which says it all about our defence because when Sinclair does not play , our defence is shocking. The question on every Wrexham fans lips is will Marc Williams start after 18 matches and still yet to score a goal. I fear Saunders will start with him and it will be a big mistake. Lets just pray.

Wrexham v Forest Green Rovers Tue 1st Dec 2009

Wrexham make a couple of changes to the starting line up with Mark Jones and Lamine Sakho both in the starting eleven but unfortunately for all Wrexham fans Gareth Taylor and Marc Williams both start once again, so the worst partnership in the history of Wrexham Fc have kept their places. Marc Williams must be living on borrowed time as 18 games now without one goal all season is a disgrace and with Andy Fleming in midfield who has played for 4 years and still to score a goal the signs are not good and lets not forget this Forest team have won 2 games all season, 3rd from bottom of league and are part time but at half time we have not had one shot on target and Wrexham get booed off at half time. Saunders makes two subs half time but I cant believe Mark Jones is off and he has left the front two on. I have had enough now and Saunders has not got a clue and its time he went . Another shocking substitution when the useless twosome are allowed to stay on the pitch. Saunders must go now whether we win this match or not as I have lost all faith in his tactics and so have the rest of The Racecourse faithful. With just 3 mins left Forest Green Rovers had a man sent off and Wrexham were awarded a free kick outside the box which Wes Baynes struck home to give Wrexham a very undeserved 3 points. Marc Williams subbed tom late for Matty Wolfenden to make any sort of impact but Marc Williams did hit the bar from 6 yards out where even I would have scored. Even though we won 1-0 against ten men Saunders has got to go as he keeps picking the same strikers who have not done it all season, so why carry on picking them when there are better players on the bench and even in the stand. A shocking display by the worst crowd so far at The Racecourse this season with only 1808 bothering to turn up and just 21 away fans.

Wrexham v Forest Green Rovers Tue 1st December 2009

After going out of the Fa Cup to Swindon last Saturday its back to non league action this Tue when Wrexham entertain Forest Green at The Racecourse. Will Saunders stay with the same team that played so well against Swindon even though they didnt score or will he have the balls to drop the useless Marc Williams and his partner up front Gareth Taylor and give someone else a chance, I certainly hope so but I would not bank on it as Saunders seems in love with them two despite having the worst scoring record ever at The Racecourse in one season so far.

Since Wrexham have been down to ten men it has been all Wrexham and Wrexham denied a penalty when a shot by Marc Williams hit the defender on the arm and every Wrexham player appealed for a penalty which tells you all you need to know as they always say look at the reactions of the players whenever a major decision is made and after having a penalty appeal denied Wrexham`s Wes Baynes went on a long run and shot which the Swindon keeper made the save of the season to keep the ball out and keep the score at 0-0.
At the moment it`s all Wrexham and wait for it, Swindon first real effort on goal from a corner is headed home by the Swindon captain after Marc Williams loses the ball. That  just about sums him up for me. Williams is absolutely useless and Wrexham now with ten mins left and down to ten men are now going out of the Fa Cup due to Marc Williams giving the ball away. Get rid of the useless Williams now. We will not score with him on the pitch, he is a f--k--g joke and must be in love with Saunders and that`s why he is always picked.

Wrexham FC vs Kidderminster Harriers - 24/11/09 - Wrexham's 1st Goal scored by Mike Williams on a rain soaked night which was torrential rain during the 2nd half and it was a credit to both teams for playing decent football along the ground and not kick and rush in the air.

Wrexham 2 Kidderminster 2 Result 19:45 Tuesday, 24 November 2009 Blue Square Premier

With a changed strting line up and Gareth Taylor dropped and Adrian Ciewelski on the right wing Wrexham actually played the balll along the floor and in torrentil rain both teams played half decent football. As per usual Marc Williams was once again picked to play up front and once again he fails to find the back of the net as it was his brother Mike Williams playing at left back who scored both of Wrexham`s goals with both coming from set pieces. Kidderminster scored first with a well taken goal which their played controlled outside the box and pushed it forward and then slid the ball into the keepers right hand bottom corner in front of the kop. We equalised when we were awarded a free kick on the touchline about level with the six yard line which Wes Baynes hit it low and hard on a very slippery surface and Mike Williams slid in to poke the ball home for the equaliser. Wrexham then had a corner which Mike Williams rose high and from outside the 6 yard box Mike Williams put in a looping header which rested in the back of the net making it 2-1 to Wrexham and the next corner Wrexham really should have made it 3-1 but it was cleared off the line and then a minute before half time Kidderminster pulled it back level with Frank Sinclair slicing the ball but with 8 Wrexham players in the box and one Kidderminster player he managed to get in front and score with a header making it 2-2 at half time and that`s how the match finished.

Saunders changed from a 4-4-2 to a 4-5-1 at half time which is an absolute disgrace and the only sub he made was Mark Jones coming on who in the time he was on did okay but the game was crying out for McCluskey to come on but Saunders was obviously happy with a draw and it`s just not good enough. Next up are Swindon in the F.A.Cup.

Histon v Wrexham, 15:00 Saturday, 21 November 2009

Having seen the team news today I am now on the verge of giving up with Saunders because Marc Williams who has had more chances than any other Wrexham player is back in the starting eleven. He couldn`t score in a brothel never mind a football match and I guarantee he doesn`t score today. What the hell is Saunders playing at, it is now official that Saunders has not got a f-----g clue to pick Williams up front again. 15 games and not one goal and he is our striker. Get rid of the useless Williams now and play someone else. I would rather play with ten men than put Marc Williams in the team as he is totally useless. Saunders I have had enough of your useless tactics and team selection and so has everyone else at The Racecourse.

Wrexham reduced to ten men were abysmal and thoroughly deserved to lose to a team that had only managed 3 wins all season.

Wrexham's Lamine Sakho is sent off for this headbutt on Esmond James
Wrexham's four-match unbeaten league run came crashing to an end while boss Dean Saunders was away on Wales duty.
Toby Little put the visitors ahead after nine minutes, sliding home Esmond James' cross at the far post.
And Little grabbed his second only two minutes later, bundling the ball home after Wrexham failed to clear.
The home side were reduced to 10 men in the second half when Lamine Sakho received a straight red card for a headbutt on James.

Wrexham assistant manager Brian Carey:
"We started sloppy and didn't recover.
"It looked like we were going to get back into it but the sending off changed it yet again and made life difficult for ourselves.
"I've not spoken to Lamine yet but it looked reckless from where I was and inexcusable."

Wrexham v Lowestoft Town Sat 3pm Kick Off

Wrexham make two changes from their last game with Taboubi and McCluskey in for Smith and Spann. A minutes silence is held for remembrance day and the match is off. After twenty mins its still no goals with Wrexham having about 90% possession but with no real chances so its still all to play for at The Racecourse where there are over 500 away fans, the best so far this season by any away team.

Wrexham Cup Run - The Year We Beat The Arsenal

With the Fa Cup First Rd this Saturday I thought I would show some of our finer fa cup moments and let`s start with the Arsenal match and then West Ham and highlights from our Fa Cup Quarter Final defeat at Chesterfield when we played our worst game of the entire season in that match against Chesterfield which if I remember correctly was broadcast live on tv.

Wrexham Fc Do Not Get Any Decisions

After Tuesdays match ended 2-2 at Kettering with Kettering being awarded a pen in the 95th minute of injury time I went and did some history on our last game against Kettering which was less than 3 months ago and what I found does not make good reading and its as if the referee's are determinede to give Wrexham nothing. Our last match at home against Kettering we were not awarded a clear penalty and also had a Mike Williams goal disallowed. It is not the first time we have not had a pen awarded to us and definitely wont be the last.

Kettering Town 2 Wrexham Fc 2 Final Result Tue 3rd Nov 2009 Latest Update

After going a goal behind after only 3 mins Wrexham have took control of this match and are leading 2-1 at the interval with some of the best football Wrexham have played all season and in all honestly if Wrexham were winning 4-1 then that would be a fairer scopeline as Kettering who are 3rd are just not in the same league as Wrexham because Wrexham are playing absolutely fantastic and if Wes Baynes and then Andrew Fleming had converted their great chances it would be 4-1 and while there is only one goal in it, we still got to find another goal before I will feel comfortable. On this showing it is hard to believe where Wrexham lie in the table but with Marc Williams dropped and about time too, this Wrexham side look dangerous going forward and are capable of scoring every time they attack which was not the case when Williams played. For some reason though a lot of people on the Wrexham 606 forum actually rate him even though he has not scored one goal in 13 consecutive starts for Wrexham until he was finally dropped last Saturday and his replacement Lamine Sakho, who once played on loan cu Leeds in the Premiership got the only goal and is picked again tonight in starting line up. After Wes Baynes is denied a clear penalty after a deliberate push Mike Williams gave a penalty away in the 5th min of injury time which only the ref knows where it came from and Kettering scored from the spot which cost Wrexham the win which they should have had wrapped up in the first half.

Ebbsfleet 0 Wrexham 1 Sat 31 Oct 2009

Another 3 points on the board for Wrexham and things are looking up. Dean Saunders finally seen sense and dropped Marc Williams and gave the ex Leeds United player Lamine Sakho a first league start and Sakho repaid that faith by scoring the only goal which is one more goal than Marc Williams managed in the last 13 matches which he started every match. I have it on good authority that Marc Williams will be gone by next season.

Ebbsfleet United v Wrexham Fc Saturday, 31 October 2009 Kick Off 3Pm all we are lacking is a top goalscorer

Wrexham FC News - Wrexham Online

I can`t see this being anything other than a win for Wrexham although it won`t be a walkover because our strikers couldn`t score in a brothel and that has been our problem all season and still is. Marc Williams despite starting the last 13 league games has still to get off the mark and a good source has told me that if he doesn`t improve by December then he will be put on the transfer list. Personally I wouldn`t give him another game because surely someone else deserves their chance and I would choose from Lamine Sakho who has only played 45 mins as he started superbly but one or two passes went astray which is to be expected from someone who has not played for several months but a lot of fans at the racecourse started giving him stick and his game deserted him because of some idiot Wrexham fans who need to remember what league we are playing in and instead of giving the players stick and calling for Dean Saunders to get sacked should be supporting the team and manager.
If Saunders was sacked then I feel we would be back to another exodus of players coming and going and take another 2 years to sort everything out.
I believe Saunders has got the core of a good skilful team and once we get a proper goalscorer then we will be flying in this league because that`s all we are lacking is a top goalscorer.

FC Halifax 0 Wrexham 1

Wrexham coach blocks road and Halifax Town Centre then they refuse to start the 2nd half as Wrexham fans are too close to the Halifax stands and they refuse to move despite a loudspeaker announcement and for a bit it was quite funny.

Fc Halifax 0 v 1 Wrexham Fc Result Saturday 24th October 2009 K.O. 3PM

Wrexham_FC All smiles on the bus home, thanks to Wes' last minute special at Halifax. 1st Rd Draw at 1pm Sunday on ITV...

Wrexham scored a late late winner 2 minutes into the 4 added injury time mins with Wes Baynes scoring a 30 yard screamer but it was anyone`s game up until then and Fc Halifax who had not lost a game all season had a couple of great chances and could easily have been the team going through to the next round instead of Wrexham. Maxwell dropped a cross with around 15 mins left and the shot went over the br much to the relief of the Wrexham players and fans.

Gareth Taylor missed a great chance 6 yards out from a Mark Jones cross when it was easier to score and wait for it Marc Williams one on one with their keeper made a right mess of it.

Marc Williams still to score after 12 consecutive starts and why he keeps picking him only Saunders knows the answer to that.   A great away following from Wrexham who were quiet all afternoon which just about sums up the Wrexham performance.

Stevenage 0-0 Wrexham | Report Tuesday 20th October 2009

Stevenage 0-0 Wrexham | Report

Stevenage 0-0 Wrexham

Marc Williams
Marc Williams almost won it for Wrexham at the end
Stevenage were held to a frustrating draw by Wrexham in a dour clash.
Charlie Griffin provided the main threat for Borough in the first half, forcing Chris Maxwell into a superb save and then firing wide.
Yemi Odubade and Michael Brough spurned presentable opportunities after the break as the hosts pushed for a goal.
But Wrexham finished strongly, with Adrian Cieslewicz forcing Chris Day into action and Marc Williams seeing two efforts blocked in injury time.

Yet another match when Marc Williams has failed to find the net. Enough is enough and he needs to be dropped and replaced by Adrian Cieslewicz who is twenty times the player Williams is and it`s crazy to leave a player of his calibre on the bench when we have the useless ginger one upfront and still yet to score a goal all season. Williams could and should have won the match for Wrexham late on but as usual his finishing was terrible and has cost us the win dropping two points.
We are not a million miles away from a decent team but the attacking third of the pitch is letting us down badly because if they had done their job in recent matches then we would be top six and it`s this lack of goals due to Marc Williams being useless and Taylor not far behind him which is costing Wrexham dearly.

Dean Saunders Transfers

Dean Saunders Transfers since becoming Wrexham manager in October 2008

Monday 8th Jun 2009

Kyle Is Latest To Leave

DEFENDER Kyle Critchell has agreed a deal which will see him leave the club with immediate effect, despite having a season left on his current contract, the necessary paperwork will be completed shortly.

The 22-year-old Wales U21 international had progressed through the youth and reserve teams at Southampton and also enjoyed a loan spell with Torquay United.

He left for Chesterfield in 2007 and was released by them after half a season, when he moved to Weymouth, his hometown club.

A move to Wrexham followed last summer, but he was suspended for the first three games of the season (following a red card in his final match with Weymouth) and then picked up an injury in training at the end of August.

After recovering from this ankle problem four months later, he said he was looking to be loaned out to help improve his first team chances at Wrexham. Joining fellow Conference side York City on a month's loan in early January 2009.

He was due to make his debut a day later against former club Weymouth, but the match was postponed due to the bad weather, before eventually made his first appearance after playing in the 2-1 victory over Oxford United ten days later.

His loan was extended for a second month on 4 February and finished with him making 11 appearances for the Minstermen.

Coming back to Wrexham in early March, Kyle then rejoined his local side Weymouth on loan until the end of the season. Playing eight times while with Weymouth, one bright spot as the Terras were relegated to the Conference South.

In total, Kyle only played two games for the Dragons, both last August.

He leaves with our best wishes and we hope he will soon be settled with a new club.

Tuesday 4th June 2009

Nat Brown has revealed he wants to leave the club so he can get first team football and not just sit and languish in the reserves. Personally I don`t think Matt has had much of a look in at Wrexham and maybe if he had had a decent look in then he would have made the centre back position his own as every time I saw him play, he always played quite a decent game so not sure if I am glad he is leaving or gutted. It`s one of them.

Tuesday 4th June 2009

Mark has signed a 12 month contract with a clause in it, which states that if after 4 months he has not done enough then Wrexham can tear up his contract and send Mark on his way.

Tuesday 19th May 2009

Levi Macken & Shaun Walley have both been released by Wrexham manager Dean Saunders. Both of them spent most of last season on loan at York City and Southport respectively but have been told they are no longer required at Wrexham. I am glad to see them both go as I thought both of them were uselesss footballers and have been very fortunate to be given a chance to play football for a living. If I was them I suggest they start looking for a proper job because they never going to make a decent living out of football as they are not good enough.

14th May 2009

Nathan Fairhurst joins Wrexham full time.

MIDFIELD player Nathan Fairhurst believes he has made the right choice by joining Wrexham, rather than staying with Championship club Preston North End.

The 19-year-old says the opportunity to play regular first team football with the Dragons is a better option rather than sit on the bench or play reserve team football at Preston where he was offered a new contract. I wish Nathan all the best and am sure that if he has a successful season then there will be a host of clubs trying to get his signature as he is too good to be playing non league football for more than a season.

Tuesday 5th May 2009

Jefferson Louis has left Wrexham by mutual consent with a year still left on his contract. The laziest footballer I have ever had the misfortune to watch play for Wrexham

Wednesday 29th April 2009

Gavin Ward - Keeper near the end of his career who served us well for 2 years.

Christian Gyan - The only match I seen him play, he was subbed at half time as he was shocking.

Anthony Williams - People claim he kept Wrexham in the league the season they beat Boston on the last day but he played about 12 games after coming in on loan and he was very lucky as all the shots in those 12 games came at a decent height and mae him look a better keeper than he was. Useless and good riddance.

Chris Marriott - Never saw him play.

Simon Spender - The promise he had as a youngster was never seen and was not good enough for Wrexham. Only reason he got a run in the team because Brian Little and Brian Carey don`t have a clue about playing football the proper way and thought he was the answer to someone with a bit of skill taking on players.

DRAGONS SIGN FRENCH DEFENDER06/02/2009French central defender Aurelien Collin, who played nineteen matches for Scottish League side Gretna last season, has signed for Blue Square Premier club Wrexham until the end of the season. Collin (pictured) joined Gretna from Spanish La Liga club Mallorca in August 2007, signing a two-year contract with the club, but he only made 19 appearances before he was released by the then-SPL club before the end of last season. Trials at Championship clubs Blackpool, Preston North End and Wolves failed to lead to a permanent deal being offered, and Collin signed a one-year contract at Greek Premier League side Panserraikos. "He's played at a higher level, he's aggressive and he's another centre half," said Wrexham manager Dean Saunders, who saw defenders Steve Evans and Shaun Pejic leave the club my mutual consent this week.

Wrexham manager Dean Saunders yesterday strengthened his promotion-chasing squad by signing winger Jamie McCluskey and he is actively pursuing yet more targets to keep his players fresh for the final 10 weeks of the season.

Saunders said new boy McCluskey faced a battle for selection, but predicted he would quickly become a crowd-pleaser at the Racecourse.

"Jamie has joined us until the end of the season and if he does well we will give him a new deal next season.

"He has not played for a long time but the fans will love watching him. He is a very talented young player, but his first job is to force his way into the team. Once he has done that I’m sure he will become a crowd favourite."

McCluskey, at one time the youngest ever player to feature in the Scottish Premier League when at Hibernian, hopes his move to the Racecourse will finally launch a career blighted by injury. A twice-broken foot was at the root of the problem, but the 21-year old Scot is optimistic that the worst is behind him.

"I have only been here a week and a half and I’ve only trained with the other lads for three days," he said.

"This is a big opportunity for me to get back to playing regular football and I owe that to the manager and his staff who have all been great with me. I have been to Partizan Belgrade in Serbia and Catania in Italy, but I have not played for a year.

"Wrexham are obviously doing well, but I would not have signed for them unless I felt I had something to offer and I’ll be doing my best to break into the first team as quickly as possible."

17th February Andrew Crofts signs on as a Wrexham player Andrew Crofts

Wrexham FC sign Andrew Crofts

DEAN SAUNDERS has lured Wales star Andrew Crofts to the Racecourse – but the midfielder couldn’t prevent Wrexham slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Burton Albion last night.

Crofts, who has 12 international caps, made his debut in the Pirelli Stadium loss after completing a whirlwind loan switch from League Two side Gillingham hours before the game.

The signing provided Saunders some consolation after watching his side throw away a 1-0 advantage against the league leaders, with Jefferson Louis opening the scoring on 23 minutes.

And the manager believes Crofts has a glittering career ahead of him, having watched the midfielder at close quarters while on international duty with Wales.

In dispute with his club Gillingham, where his contract expires at the end of the season, the 24-year old has joined the Dragons until the end of the season in order to play regular first team football.

And the Racecourse boss is delighted to have secured the player’s services for Wrexham’s bid to bounce back into the Football League at the first attempt.

“He’s coming to help us in this final push for promotion,” said Saunders.

“I know his qualities from working with him at Wales and this boy could end up playing in the Premiership. He played against Holland last summer, where he made a good impression on the coaching staff.

“This is a major coup for us and shows the ambition of the chairman and myself in trying get Wrexham promoted out of this league.

“Andrew’s presence brings experience and strength to the squad and he will bring the best out of our younger players. He is a good, solid character and certainly no fancy-dan player because he rolls his sleeves up and gets stuck in.

“Andrew will definitely move onto better things. But it shows the boy’s character that he is will to come and help a Welsh club in the short term. He really is doing us a big favour.

“Both John Toshack and myself advised the player that a move to Wrexham would be a big help to both him and Welsh football.”

Crofts has also won under 19 and under 21 honours and was Gillingham’s player of the year last season. He made nearly 200 appearances for the Kent club, scoring 17 goals.

Wrexham have been busy in the transfer market again, albeit only on loan. A new goalkeeper which we need and another central defender which we definitely don`t need. Obviously Mark hughes must rate him highly to bring him to Man City from Blackburn seeing as Man City already have two excellent goalkeepers. At 6 foot 3 he should be able to handle anything in the air which is what we desperately need. How many times have we lost to set pieces is un-real so hopefully this should put a stop to that. Assoumani signs for DragonsWrexham have announced the signing of defender Mansour Assoumani for the remainder of the season.Mansour is 28,and was born in Nice, France. He is 6 feet 2 inches and can play in central defence or right back. Assoumani began his career with French club Montpellier, making 74 appearances and scoring 4 goals in a five year stay. He has also played for German second division clubs Saarbrucken and Sportfreunde Siegen. In December 2008, Assoumani was offered a one month contract with First division Leeds United. He made one appearance while at Elland road, Playing in the 3-1 defeat against Milton Keynes Dons.Mansour was released by Leeds in January 2009, and trained with Crewe Alexandra but failed to secure a contract. At last we have some real height in our defence which is what we desperately required. I have now lost count of the number of players we have signed permanently or got on loan in the last two years. Surely we must be talking over 50 players. Geoff Moss surely must be congratulated on the money he has spent since taking over at Wrexham or sent to the nearest mental institution and strapped to the chair for his own well being and mental health because let`s face it, who else would have ploughed the amount of money into Wrexham during the last year or so. We must have had more players than Pamela Anderson has had ,well you know what she has had.
