Wrexham who raced into a two goal lead after 15 minutes were left hanging on for a point as they pressed the self destruct with three shocking substitutions by Dean Saunders which did nothing to help Wrexham and a display by a referee who should never be allowed onto a football pitch again as time after time he let Cambridge get away with their bully boy tactics and booked every Wrexham player he possibly could, even booking Spann as he went to take a throw-in and as he picked up the ball the referee showed him a yellow card which I have never witnessed such a shocking display by ny referee in my life, although if you visit the racecourse regularly then you will I guarantee the worst referee`s in the world as they all come to the racecourse.
Anyway Wrexham scored through Andy Mangan after a great through pass by Christian Smith who picked out Mangan who saw his shot go in off the post then a few minutes later Wrexham had a corner and Christian Smith scored a powering header to put Wrexham clearly in command of the match and they went in at half time 2-0 up. 2nd half starts and Saunders decides to make a sub and off comes Mark Jones and is replaced by the slefish Wes Baynes and I just can`t believe that he has pressed the self destruct button again because whenever he takes off Mark Jones, (the most skilful player we have got but is never given a decent run in the first team and who surely will be off this summer for a team that realises his skill and contribution and his off the ball running freeing up space for his team mates) the opposition always score and we end up drawing a match of losing and that substitution totally changed the game for me and the referee who I would not let take charge of an undr 8`s match. Then Saunders replaces Sakho another skilful player who is not given much support by either the manager or the fans and is replaced by Kai Edwards who was making his first team debut this season and another defender and to top it all off he replaces Mangan and brings on Wolfenden. The crowd were getting restless and several fouls by Cambridge which went unpunished led to their penalty which after watching the replay twenty times I still can`t see why it was given except for the simple fact the referee obviously didn`t want Wrexham to win and he made sure they didn`t. They scored fromt the spot to make it 2-1 and then a shot from the edge of the area into the bottom left corner of the goal in front of the Eric Roberts stand and Wrexham were defending way too deep and inviting Cambridge to score and as the final whistle went there was a chorus of Saunders Out Saunders Out from the dismayed home fans.
Drew a match we were in total control due to the worst referee ever seen at The Racecourse, that is until next week when you can guarantee that the next ref will be worse and a selection of substitutions by Saunders which proves that he has not got a clue.

Barrow 2 Wrexham 1 Tuesday 16th March 2010

A rare start for Mark Jones proved I have been right all season by saying he should have been in the team months ago and was excellent and got Wrexham's goal, just a shame the other ten players didnt turn up. After taking the lead Wrexham pressed the self destruct button by scoring an own goal which lifted Barrow and they scored through sub Nick Chadwick to go 2-1 up and Wrexham then had Mani sent off in the last minute. We should be thrashing teams like Barrow and to lose to teams like Barrow makes you question the players commitment and desire. They are all full time, stop overnight in top hotels when playing away and they have a luxury travel coach that other teams have to make do with a minibus and have the best fresh food daily with a chef catering to every player and training facilities which most championship teams would be proud of.

Five games without a win and despite the scoreline Wrexham were outplayed throughout this game and got what they deserved absolutely nothing. A very poor performance which leaves Wrexham in the wrong half of the table. Any hopes of a play off place have now vanished and the only place Wrexham are going is down if they not careful.

Its all happening here at The Racecourse. Wrexham 1-0 up thanks to a Wes Baynes tap in. Altrincham have missed a penalty and Frank Sinclair on his comeback game from injury is shown a straight red card after a bad tackle on ex Wrexham player Tom Kearney who has been stretchered off with a very bad injury. And its still the first half.

Midfielder Tom Kearney's double leg break overshadowed the evening as Altrincham came back to draw with 10-man Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham cashed in on Chris Senior's missed penalty to lead through Wes Baynes' close-range strike.
But Frank Sinclair was shown a straight red card for a tackle on Kearney which left players wincing.
And, after withstanding heavy Robins pressure, Greg Strong headed home Peter Doran's fine corner from close range.
The visitors' penalty came midway through the first half after Silvio Spann fouled Senior, who was then thwarted by Wrexham keeper Sam Russell.
And Altrincham were made to pay for that miss when Andy Mangan set up Baynes' opener.
Then came Sinclair's second red card of the season, as Kearney departed the action on a stretcher.
But, in this mid-table battle, Alty eventually managed to make their extra man count when Young headed home to earn his side a third successive 1-1 draw.

"What can you say? I thought we were comfortable all night, even when we were down to 10 men.
"I seriously think that something has to be done about the standard of refereeing.
"We are going to appeal against the red card. I have to say that Tom Kearney's a great lad and no-one likes to see that happen. I'll be trying to speak to him [on Wednesday].
"But I know rank has not meant any harm to him. It was a block tackle but he got the ball.
"Frank slid in and he's said that Tom kicked the bottom of his foot and it's just connected on that spot.
"I think because [the referee] has been watching Match of the Day he's jumped on it straight away and sent Frank off.
"[I thought two Altrincham players] were going to get red cards but they never.
"I'm hoping that in a few years time I'm going to look back at this and say I'm glad it happened to me and I've learned something.
"I'm just coming out of games every week and saying the same things.
"We had enough chances to win and even in the last minute there was a blatant penalty on Andy Fleming, but [the referee] thought he couldn't give it because he should have given them a penalty earlier."

Did Anyone Buy That Awful Kit That Looked Similar To An England Top

At the beginning of the season whoever was in charge of making a new kit decided to make one that looked like an England top and despite suggestions to alter it, they went ahead with it and we are in the last quarter of the season and I can`t remember seeing any Wrexham fan actually wearing it to a match. This kit disaster has cost the club thousands of pounds in lost revenue as I always buy a new shirt for myself and my son and I know a lot of other people do as well but when we seen the design there was no way I would be seen in a shirt that looked like an England top
Every week the crowds are getting lower because the players are not producing the goods the fans wil stop paying good money and its a catch 22 situation. I know the board have said that if they don`t get the fans through the gates then they can`t afford any new players. I`ve got an idea to make money. Make a shirt that doesn`t look like an England shirt and you may just sell a few because despite everyone moaning when the England type shirt was first put out and everyone saying they wouldn`t buy it, guess what? Wrexham continued to make the shirt and you`ve guessed right, no-one has bought any. I have not seen one person wear the shirt so another suggestion would to get rid of the commercial director because that has cost thousands of pounds in lost revenue.

Wonder what next seaons kit will be like. Will it be similar to a rugby top. I wouldn`t bet against it.

Wrexham came away feeling hard done by with a last minute penalty given against a foul by Obeng when in all honesty these are the teams we should be knocking goals past for fun but we just cant score goals which is a major problem when you are a Footballer. A few injuries meant a rare start for Mark Jones who based on skill should in my opinion be in the starting eleven every time but with Gareth Taylor playing most of first half of season up front, the midfield was being missed with all the high long balls but the games Taylor does not play and we can play some decent football at times and this is where Mark can make the difference. Saunders has pulled out of the Wales squad this Wednesday as he still thinks Wrexham can make the play offs. They are still in reach points wise, trouble is we do not have the team to get the amount of points needed to make the play off's. A poor result which should never have happened given the fact that Wrexham are full time and have their own Chef, have the best food in training, have got a fantastic team bus which non League clubs could never afford and if the ground is a couple of hours drive then they stop overnight in a luxury hotel. They are pampered like Premiership players and should be able to walk this League but are only halfway which is not good enough. How much longer can we continue being a full time club playing non League football.

After a 1-0 defeat at home to Stevenage Borough in midweek Wrexham will be looking to get back to winning ways but to do that they will have to start with a different team as Gareth Taylor upfront is just making us use the long ball tactic and missing out midfield and apart from it being awful to watch (Stevenage fans love it though) it is very inneffective. McCluskey and Mark Jones ame on with 15 mins left the other night and they are both great players and can change the game, they are match winners. Saunders for some reason will not play the skilful players and instead relies on the very average players who cannot pass a ball straight and we are halfway past the season and he still insists on playing the same team when it has not worked all season and will not work. If he played his best eleven which in my opinion he has failed to do all season then we would be up there at the top. Andy Fleming our midfielder plays every game but in over hundreds of matches, he has found the net just once which for a midfielder is not good enough. Mark Jones who cannot get into the team nad has rarely featured has scored more than that this season and like I say is very rarely involved. The problem is if our strikers don`t score, our midfilelders are not doing anything to help out. Fleming as any Wrexham fan will tell you likes to pass backwards 95% of the time and he is not a bad player but Mark Jones should be in the team on merit before him every time and at least with Mark you know there is a chance he is going to score like he did at Altrincham the other week but then was dropped for the next match. It`s time Saunders sorted out who his best eleven is because he needs to get rid of the dead wood at the end of the season and bring in players who can score goals.

A shocking dire performance against the 2nd placed team who in all honesty were no better and play with just one tactic, and thats hit the ball as far as you can. If they were my home team I would never go to Watch them because thats not football, they were shocking but did go home with all 3 points. As soon as I seen the starting eleven with Gareth Tayllmp in the team I knew we would play route one and by pass the midfield which is exactly what happened. The Stevenage goal came in the 49th min of The first half. Wolfenden came on half time for Taylor and with about 15 mins left Mark Jones and Jamie McCluskey came on but it was too late by then. Saunders does not give Mark or Jamie a good run in the team because if he had then we would be walking games like last nights as these two lads have more skill than anyone in this League but they cant show it if they dont get a chance. Saunders has his favourites and sticks with them even though it has not worked.

Let`s hope the snow has gone before tonight`s fixture against Stevenage. The covers were on yesterday so the game will definitely be on as the covers which were kindly leant from a rugby club last Thursday do not go back till tomorrow. I just hope we don`t play as bad as we did during the first half last Saturday where I swear I nodded off along with a few other Wrexham fans. The 2nd half was better but the introduction of Mark Jones on for the injured Wes Baynes for the last 15 minutes completely changed the way Wrexham played and all of a sudden we were on fire and could have scored 3 goals in that last 15 minutes. People are going to say Mark didn`t do much but what he did do was make space for the other players and made some good runs whereas Baynes is too selfish and if he gets sight of goal wherever he is , he lalways shoots when there are other and better options on, and thats the difference that Jonah made when he came on. I just hope that Saunders picks him tonight as he deserves a run in the team.

Wrexham beat Crawley 2-0 in one of the most boring games I have seen at The Racecourse. In fact the less said the better. Sakho went off injured miday through the first half and was replaced by Matty Wolfenden who scored the 2nd goal late in the 2nd half. THE man poised to become the new chairman of Wrexham FC last night offered an olive branch to the club’s largest supporters’ organisation and described Dragons fans as the “heart and soul of the club”.
A press conference today is expected to confirm that present chairman Geoff Moss is stepping down as a director of the Blue Square Premier League club with Ian Roberts, a Ruthin-based businessman, taking over.
Other changes following the recent introduction of Super League rugby to the Racecourse will see Crusaders marketing director Mike Turner and commercial manager Richard Jones appointed to the board with responsibility for building the business and maximise revenue streams for both teams.
At a sparsely-attended fans’ forum last night, Roberts insisted he wanted to draw a line in the sand on what had gone before and promised more consultation and transparency in the future.
Introducing Turner and Jones, he said: “We have brought these guys in – and they don’t come cheap – because we are entering a new phase.
“We want to wipe the slate clean with the supporters and open negotiations with Wrexham Supporters Trust.
“There have been misunderstandings in the past, but we would like to engage in a dialogue to see how we can work together.”
The Trust, whose long-held ambition is to take a shareholding in the club, has a war-chest of more than £350,000 and Roberts added: “With the sort of money they have raised, we (the club) should be shaking their hands and inviting them to do the same for us.
“We can’t afford not to work with people who are the heart and soul of the club and for too many years the two sides have been working against each other.”
Roberts admitted that last night’s forum had been arranged at extremely short notice, but promised that a second would be staged within a month and that it would be the first of regular open meetings.
Jones, who outlined a business plan for both clubs, added: “We have to be more transparent in the way the club is run and recognise the supporters can play a massive part in that.”
Trust vice-chairman Peter Jones grilled him on the club’s employment of two alleged “charity scammers”, pointing out that many supporters were dismayed by Wrexham’s refusal to sack the pair.
But he was told that, although the club’s inquiries were ongoing, both had so far proved exemplary employees.

Geoff Moss has shut down Red Passion because of people on there giving him a load of grief. I for one fully agree with Moss, lets be honest without him where would Wrexham Fc be now. People have short memories and if he has had all his money back and is going to make a profit from Wrexham village then whats wrong with that. No one else pumped money into the club when we were so close to going out of business so Wrexham supporters who slag Moss off, get off your backside and then put your own money into the club, otherwise shut up and let Moss get on with his life and stop abusing Geoff and his family. He is a Wrexham supporter who saved Wrexham Fc in our hour of need when no one else was willing to risk their own money.

Chester's trip to Forest Green on Tuesday was called off at late notice after the cash-strapped club's players refused to get on the team bus.



The game was postponed at 1711 GMT, two and a half hours before kick-off, after Forest Green received a call saying that City could not fulfil the fixture.



"Negotiations had been going on all day," revealed former managing director Rob Gray, who is still at the club.



"But, in the end, we'd no option but to say we could not fulfil the fixture."



Crisis club Chester's players had gone unpaid for three months until receiving a week's salary prior to last weekend's home defeat by Ebbsfleet.



But, having twice threatened strike action already this season (only for the targeted games to be called off on each occasion due to the weather), the players finally appear to have had enough.



The players have obviously been unhappy about not being paid

Chester's gates, already massively reduced following relegation last season, have slumped even further following a boycott led by disillusioned Chester fans, unhappy with the running of the now seemingly doomed club.



By comparison with last season's average gate of 1,972, Chester have attracted less than 500 to both their last two home league games.



"To get only 450 here doesn't even cover the overheads," Gray told BBC Sport. "The fans' boycott has finally taken its toll.



"I'm not sure it's the right way to go about things. But the players have obviously been unhappy about not being paid."



Chester were already down to only nine senior players, having lost top scorer Nick Chadwick and midfielders Anthony Barry and James Owen in the last month.



And defenders Rhys Meynell, a target for Kidderminster Harriers, and Kevin Roberts, reportedly pursued by Cambridge United, have both served a two-week notice to terminate their contracts.

A statement on Forest Green Rovers' website read: "Due to circumstances beyond our control, the club was notified at 5.11pm that this evening's Blue Square Premier fixture against Chester City has been called off.
"The club are taking steps to liaise with all our usual media contacts to notify them of the circumstances, however we would like to take this opportunity to apologise to all our sponsors and supporters for the late cancellation."
Chester now face the likelihood of a renewed date with Blue Square Premier officials, who were already keen to talk to them over their parlous financial situation.
They are also due back in the High Court in London next month, on 10 March, as they face being wound up over an unpaid £25,025 tax bill.

And, although the Conference are understood to have so far been keen for Chester to somehow limp through the rest of the season, to avoid obvious complications affecting the other 23 Blue Square Premier clubs, City's fans have already effectively written their team off.

"CFU committee members have been encouraged by field trips to Telford and FC United of Manchester, which have shown that not only is a phoenix club viable at our level, it can also facilitate community participation to create a proud asset for our city."

In a dire game Wrexham managed just one shot on target and the less said about this match the better. There was a recall for Anthony Fairclough in place of Mark Jones who gets twenty minutes one match and then frozen out for several games when if he played a couple of matches and got his confidence back the whole team would benefit as he is a class act. Trouble is if Saunders does not like you then you have no chance of changing his mind.

They are just two games away from a Wembley appearance and last Saturday they beat the league leaders Stevenage Borough courtesy of a Chris Smith goal which knocked Stevenage Borough off the top spot. They have also beat Oxford and Mansfield this season and in August also beat Wrexham 2-1 with goals from Smith and Jake Sheridan

Eastbourne Borough 2 Wrexham 1 Sat 6th Feb 2010

Just when you think Wrexham have now turned the corner with two new signings they commit suicide and gift Eastbourne two goals with dreadful defending with first goal player two yards from goal and gets a free header and the 2nd goal a short backpass from Mani who was also at fault for the goal Mansfield scored other night when he sliced the ball out for ac throw in which Mansfield scored from. I like Mani but we cannot before these mistakes because at 1-0 down we are still in the game but 2-0 and they put everyone behind the ball and not interested in playing football, they are happy to defend. Teams like these we should be beating 3 to 4 nil, not losing especially as we had luxury of overnight stop in hotel which not many teams do in this division. Tamworth at home Tuesday night and possibly our last ever local derby against Chester next Sunday at 12 noon kick off in very strange circumstances.

There has been a big bust up at Wrexham between the rugby and the football teams and Crusaders have been forced To Train At Lex, Wrexham's old training ground because Saunders was not happy with the pitch after the Rugby team trained on Thursday afternoon before their first home match on Friday night. How much longer will The Crusaders be at The Racecourse is a million dollar question.

The pitch still had the rugby lines visible as the green paint that was put down to cover the lines today had not dried and had washed away with the rain but Wrexham who included the two new players and started with McCluskey were on fire in the first half and played the best football I have seen all season. Mangan hit the bar early on from a knock down just outside 6 yard box and on 22 mins Wes Baynes had a free kick Off about 35 yards out in front of Eric Roberts stand which he hammered towards goal only to see the keeper push it onto crossbar. Not long after Christian played through ball to Baynes on the right of the pitch where Baynes came inside and hit a low shot into net to give Wrexham the lead. Mansfield were fouling left, right and centre and the ref did nothing as the home fans were going mad and just to upset the home fans again, Mansfield keeper way out of his area by the Mold Road Stand gave ball away and just as Mangan was about to hit the ball into the empty goal the ref blew for half time. It was unbelievable and Wrexham were incensed as all the decisions were going against Wrexham, in fact if he had a yellow shirt on it would have been easier to accept because his first half display was shocking and worst was to come in the second half. Mansfield equalised within 3 mins of 2nd half and celebrated as if they just won The World Cup because they knew that they should have been 4 goals down at half time. Christian Smith commits a foul, Wrexham's first of the match and promptly gets booked, absolutely shocking as the referee let Mansfield get away with at least 5 bad tackles first half and did nothing. The Mansfield players even got away with kicking the ball away when Wrexham had a free kick and had the ball in place to take free kick but yet again amazingly did nothing. By now Mansfield players were going down as soon as any Wrexham players dared to tackle them, and each one you thought had been shot by a sniper the way they fell and would hold their heads as if they had been elbowed in the face. Every Mansfield player should be ashamed and be investigated because the diving, blatant play acting is how they are near the top of the table because they have no skill as Wrexham were by far the better team and thoroughly deserved their win. Jamie McCluskey was on fire and they just could not handle him. With his step overs and he even did a cross where he put his right foot behind his left foot and did a brilliant chipped cross and he was unlucky to not score. Mangan got Wrexham's 2nd goal and thats two goals in 2 and a bit games, Holden also had a very impressive debut and we looked a totally different team to the one that has struggled all season and have now got pace and skill and more importantly a player who knows where the back of the net is, unlike Marc Williams who has failed to score a goal all season. About ten mins from the end Christian Smith was hurt on the floor and when he eventually got to his feet he was shown a second yellow and sent off to the amazement of Wrexham fans and sent after 5 mins of injury time, the ref had to have a steward escort from several stewards to get off the pitch. One of the poorest refereeing displays I have seen in over 30 years, yes thats how poor he was.

The pitch is still covered in snow and a few people are clearing the snow as I type this at 13:20 but as they are removing the snow the pitch is soaking and waterlogged. The temp at present is at 9 degrees and if it stays at this temp then hopefully it will help get rid of the water but at present the game is very doubtful. Still waiting for referee to turn up at 3pm before any decision is made. Just been informed a decision to be made by 5pm.

The original fixture 19th December was called off due to parts of pitch being frozen and I would be very surprised if tomorrows game is not called off with all the snow we have had in North Wales goad Friday afternoon and presently the temp is zero with pitch still covered in snow. A shame as Wrexham have put a nice run together with the new striker Mangan a superb signing and getting his first goal last Saturday in a 3-1 away win at Altrincham.

A first goal for Mangan in Wrexham colours after 3 mins set Wrexham on the way to a good 3-1 away victory at Altrincham. With a good following urging Wrexham on they started well and Mangan got his goal from a cross into the box where he put it in the back of the net. First half it was all Wrexham and they got their second through Wes Baynes after 38 mins from inside the box. They went in at half time 2-0 up but they could have been 6-0 and that would have been fairer. Sinclair went off injured early first half replaced by Mike Williams, lets hope its not serious. Mark Jones came on as sub and scored the third and Altrincham got a late consolation goal.

After a good 1-0 win in our first game of 2010 against high flying Afc Wimbledon and with new signing Andy Mangan, although a bit ring rusty showing signs of a good footballer, things are starting to look up for us Wrexham fans again. The lad we signed from Chester only last week has left for more money and gone to Fleetwood Town who as far as I am concerned is good riddance to him. He may be getting £1,200 per week or more depending on which paper you read but he obviously has no ambition and perhaps he is not good enough to play in the league, because why would any young footballer trying to make his way in the game turn down Wrexham for a club in a league below them and let`s face it, Fleetwood Town, who are they? 
Tonight`s opponents are Rushden & Diamonds who include Jefferson Louis in their team after winning the man of the match award in their last game.  Yet when Louis was at Wrexham I don`t think anyone was sorry to see him let go but ain`t it funny how things turn out as we just can`t score goals all season but hopefully with Mangan now signed that will change.

Wrexham`s first game of the year ended in a 1-0 win from a very controversial goal. Wrexham included new signing Andy Mangan in the side amidst rumours that there has been a huge dressing room row with Curtis Obeng, Matty Wolfenden and new signing Anthony Barry who only signed the other day and has not even played a game yet all ripping up their contracts and alking out of the club. In fact Anthony Barry has signed for Fleetwood Town after they offered him more money which is shocking, but if that`s the sort of person he is then good riddance and we will be better off without him the money grabbing git. Anyway back to taoday`s game and Afc Wimbledon with a good following of 469 in the 3,269 attendance were the first to have a shot on goal after 10 minutes which came to nothing. Andy Mangan showed some nice touches when the ball was passed to him and Wrexham started to play some nice football which we haven`t seen at The Racecourse all season. On the half hour Gareth Taylor by the section where the away fans now sit crossed the ball high into the box and the keeper caught it under a challenge from Lamine Sakho when the linesman put his flag up and awarded a goal. Every Wimbledon player ran to the linesman to protest and after consulting his linesman the referee gave the goal as the keeper had carried it over the line. 1-0 Wrexham and they were now well and truly on top and a few minutes later Wrexham produced another great cross and the ball was in the back of the net but the referee spotted something the linesman didn`t and disallowed the goal but Wrexham were on fire and could sense there was another goal in this before the break which nearly came from Wes Baynes free kick which skimmed the top of the crossbar. Half time 1-0. 2nd half and Taylor had a chance which their keeper made a good save, then Fleming from the halfway line passed the ball back to the keeper whose clearance was blocked and Wimbledon really should have scored but Russell slid back and put it over his own bar for a corner but a fantastic save. Mangan was then subbed with 20 mins left and that was the minute that changed the way we were playing and totally lost all confidence going forward and sat back and defended as Wimbledon threw everything bar the kitchen sink at Wrexham but under Frank Sinclair they have a fantastic captain and his defending was first class. One sour point was the injury received to a Wimbledon player who was still being stretchered off at the final whistle but a fantastic result and even better as I had £10 on Wrexham to win at 17/8.

Andrew Mangan (born 30 August 1986 in Liverpool) is an English footballer currently playing for Wrexham FC.




Andrew Mangan began his education in football at Blackpool FC at the age of 15. He was there for three years scoring 49 goals all together in reserve and youth team football. He also made his professional debut at the club, at the tender age of 17. He made just 2 professional appearances at Blackpool FC under Steve MacMahon. Colin Hendry took over as manager in Mangan's third year at the club, and Mangan found it hard to break in to the first team with Hendry's preference of players to be six foot plus, Mangan was therefore released towards the end of the season.



Mangan went straight on loan to Unibond Premier team Hyde United, scoring 2 goals in 7 appearances, helping them secure the league title along the way. It was thought Mangan would return to Hyde the following season but he rejected them in favour of a full time contract with Accrington Stanley.



At Accrington Mangan played 2 full seasons helping them gain promotion to the Football League for the first time in 50 years. In his first full season Mangan played in 45 cup and league games scoring ten goals. Mangan was used mainly in the last forty minutes of games to use his pace and exploit the defenders, he was known as a super sub in his first year. And scored some vital goals to help Accrington clinch the title. In his second year at the club Mangan became frustrated with the lack of starts he was getting. He made 36 appearances only 5 of them were from the start, and scored 6 goals. At the end of the 2007 season Mangan was offered a two year deal from Accrington but rejected in favour of Bury FC.



At Bury Mangan was given his chance, he scored his first goal in August with a header against Chesterfield, with 5 more goals coming before Christmas. Mangan was injured at the beginning of December 2007 with a suspected hernia problem. Mangan went under surgery in December 2007 and only made 6 appearances the rest of the season as he could not get fit. He made 20 appearances at bury, 10 of them starting and the others used as a substitute. While injured at Bury his manager Chris Casper was sacked and Alan Knill replaced him. Mangan was released towards the end of the 2008 season.



In the summer of 2008 Mangan signed for Forest Green Rovers. Forest Green Rovers manager Jim Harvey made Mangan his first signing of the summer, saying he had been after Mangan for a while. It was here at Forest Green Rovers that Mangan came into his own. He made 49 appearances scoring 30 goals, 26 of them were in the league and he finished the Blue Square Premier top goalscorer. Mangan was voted player of the year by the Directors of Forest Green Rovers. His 30 goals include 3 hat tricks against Torquay United, Lewes FC and Rushden and Dimonds.



On 7 April 2009 he was named as one of five players charged by the Football Association for breaching betting rules, whereby players, managers or coaching staff are prohibited from betting on the result or progress of any match or competition in which the participant is participating or has any direct or indirect influence. According to the BBC, the charge relates to a game between Bury FC and Accrington FC, before which Mangan is alleged to have placed stakes to the value of approximately £3,500.[1] The Football Association subsequently fined him £2,000 and banned him for five months .[2]



On 15th January, Mangan maintained his desire to stay at Forest Green Rovers until the end of the 09-10 season, despite speculation linking him with a move to fellow Blue Square Premier side Wrexham

Wrexham FC supporters and a local building company have given their support to try to clear the club's Racecourse pitch after six weeks without football.


Club secretary Geraint Parry said it showed a real community spirit.

But he remains unsure whether Saturday's game against Stevenage Borough will go ahead.

Wrexham face eighth successive postponement Wrexham are facing their eighth successive postponement with the Blue Square Premier side set to suffer six weeks without playing a game.


The game away to Barrow next Tuesday is already off as the hosts are set to play an FA Trophy game at Maidenhead.

And Wrexham's home match with Stevenage on Saturday is in doubt because of a frozen Racecourse pitch as the big freeze continues in Britain.

"I'm very concerned by the fixture backlog," said boss Dean Saunders.

The Dragons are on their longest run without a game for 32 years since the big freeze of 1978 and Wrexham must fit in 28 games in the remaining 14 weeks of the season - an average of two games a week.

"We will have to play on Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday then again on Saturday," said Saunders.

"And it could be worse if there weather doesn't get any better.

"We will have to play all of the games eventually but it will be a severe test of my squad."

Wrexham's 1-0 FA Trophy victory over Altrincham on 15 December was their last outing but the Dragons' last league fixture was a 2-1 defeat at York City on 5 December.

Now Saturday's visit of Stevenage is already in jeopardy as the Racecourse pitch is completely frozen and covered in three inches of snow.

Wrexham officials will perform regular pitch inspections but already the Stevenage match is only "50-50" to beat the weather.

The Mansfield game has been rearranged for 2 February while their visit to Gateshead has been rescheduled for 23 March.

After a rocky horror first match at The Racecourse last saturday where after missing a 4th min penalty, Wrexham never looked like scoring and this will now be our 2nd meeting of Altrincham in a month as we play them home and away in the league in next two weeks. Lets be honest Altrincham are a very poor team and we should be taking these teams to th'd cleaners but we are too slow when we break with the ball supporting the player and by the time the supporting cast arrive in the box the opportunity has gone. Spann who I am not the biggest fan of actually put in some fantastic crosses last Saturday but no one was on the end of them, because they never made any real threatening runs and its the same week in week out although we looked better with Gareth Taylor and Marc Williams out of the side as we at least tried playing football on the floor. A recall for Jonah in midfield, Russell has kept his place in goal, a surprise recall for Taboubi after his recent performances have not been the best after a good start at beginning of season where he looked a very good player and a deserved place for Fairhurst who must be wondering why he has not been playing with our dismal performances. Half time here its still no goals but one way traffic and usual story Wrexham cant score to save their lives. About 150 Wrexham fans have made the journey here and that is good support considering the performances Wrexham have put in lately.
2nd half and Wrexham make a sub about ten mins into the 2nd half with Baynes going off with an injury and Chesielwicz coming on. Its now Altrincham 1 Wrexham 0 and things are going from bad to worse for Dean Saunders who really must be hanging on to his job by the skin of his teeth. Wrexham are knocked out of the Cup by Altrincham after dominating most of the two games but just cant score a goal for love or money and even after 4 min injury time Wrexham were not pushing forward enough and Spann takes a corner only for it to sail over everyone. Man Of The Match was the Altrincham keeper which tells you just how this game was but like I say we never really threatened their goal and Marc Williams hit the post when he should have scored.

About eight degrees at the Racecourse and with ticket prices reduced by just 2-3 pounds this could be the lowest ever attendance at the Racecourse on a Saturday afternoon and it serves Wrexham right. It was good to see Sam Russell back in goal and his distribution was second to none as he could and did pick out a player every time except for the mis kick during 2nd half and didnt just hoof the ball upfield hoping we win it and didnt I think he should stay in the side. Even though he didnt have much to do he commands his area better, comes for the high balls and his all round game is better than Maxwell's and thats the only positive to come from this game as Wrexham were awful. With less than 3 mins played Spann was brought down and Sakho put the penalty wide. Mike Williams missed a free header and Altrincham were shocking and not till the 2nd half did they put a few passes together. Awful game and with Wrexham desperate to avoid a replay Saunders brings on Mark Williams, the striker who has not scored a goal in his 19th match. I could not believe it. Yes it finished 0-0 to a chorus of boos.

Wrexham with Marc Williams on the bench started slowly and paid the price after just 6 mins when they conceded a goal that angered Wrexham as they felt that Curtis Obeng was fouled but despite protests the goal stood and that was still the score at half time. 2nd half it was all Wrexham and despite having nearly all the possession when we got to the final third of the field we dont know what to do and the attack breaks down time and time again. but with the home fans getting restless Wrexham could sense a goal and were playing neat attractive football with the useless Marc Williams on the bench and looked a lot better for him being dropped. Surely soon we would get the equaliser we surely deserved but its a cruel game and after Gareth Taylor had his goal disallowed for offside a few mins later York were celebrating a 2nd goal of the day totally against the run of play and with less than ten mins left it was game over. Wrexham two mins after conceding a second goal pulled one back through Andy Fleming, surely we cant get another I thought and even though we pushed forward in the dying mins the points were lost and Wrexham go home empty handed when they deserved all three points. The only good thing I heard yesterday was Wrexham are close to bringing in two new players and thats come from a very good source.

Wrexham make a couple of changes to the starting line up with Mark Jones and Lamine Sakho both in the starting eleven but unfortunately for all Wrexham fans Gareth Taylor and Marc Williams both start once again, so the worst partnership in the history of Wrexham Fc have kept their places. Marc Williams must be living on borrowed time as 18 games now without one goal all season is a disgrace and with Andy Fleming in midfield who has played for 4 years and still to score a goal the signs are not good and lets not forget this Forest team have won 2 games all season, 3rd from bottom of league and are part time but at half time we have not had one shot on target and Wrexham get booed off at half time. Saunders makes two subs half time but I cant believe Mark Jones is off and he has left the front two on. I have had enough now and Saunders has not got a clue and its time he went . Another shocking substitution when the useless twosome are allowed to stay on the pitch. Saunders must go now whether we win this match or not as I have lost all faith in his tactics and so have the rest of The Racecourse faithful. With just 3 mins left Forest Green Rovers had a man sent off and Wrexham were awarded a free kick outside the box which Wes Baynes struck home to give Wrexham a very undeserved 3 points. Marc Williams subbed tom late for Matty Wolfenden to make any sort of impact but Marc Williams did hit the bar from 6 yards out where even I would have scored. Even though we won 1-0 against ten men Saunders has got to go as he keeps picking the same strikers who have not done it all season, so why carry on picking them when there are better players on the bench and even in the stand. A shocking display by the worst crowd so far at The Racecourse this season with only 1808 bothering to turn up and just 21 away fans.

Will Saunders stay with the same team that played so well against Swindon even though they didnt score or will he have the balls to drop the useless Marc Williams and his partner up front Gareth Taylor and give someone else a chance, I certainly hope so but I would not bank on it as Saunders seems in love with them two despite having the worst scoring record ever at The Racecourse in one season so far.

Since Wrexham have been down to ten men it has been all Wrexham and Wrexham denied a penalty when a shot by Marc Williams hit the defender on the arm and every Wrexham player appealed for a penalty which tells you all you need to know as they always say look at the reactions of the players whenever a major decision is made and after having a penalty appeal denied Wrexham`s Wes Baynes went on a long run and shot which the Swindon keeper made the save of the season to keep the ball out and keep the score at 0-0.
At the moment it`s all Wrexham and wait for it, Swindon first real effort on goal from a corner is headed home by the Swindon captain after Marc Williams loses the ball. That  just about sums him up for me. Williams is absolutely useless and Wrexham now with ten mins left and down to ten men are now going out of the Fa Cup due to Marc Williams giving the ball away. Get rid of the useless Williams now. We will not score with him on the pitch, he is a f--k--g joke and must be in love with Saunders and that`s why he is always picked.

With a changed strting line up and Gareth Taylor dropped and Adrian Ciewelski on the right wing Wrexham actually played the balll along the floor and in torrentil rain both teams played half decent football. As per usual Marc Williams was once again picked to play up front and once again he fails to find the back of the net as it was his brother Mike Williams playing at left back who scored both of Wrexham`s goals with both coming from set pieces. Kidderminster scored first with a well taken goal which their played controlled outside the box and pushed it forward and then slid the ball into the keepers right hand bottom corner in front of the kop. We equalised when we were awarded a free kick on the touchline about level with the six yard line which Wes Baynes hit it low and hard on a very slippery surface and Mike Williams slid in to poke the ball home for the equaliser. Wrexham then had a corner which Mike Williams rose high and from outside the 6 yard box Mike Williams put in a looping header which rested in the back of the net making it 2-1 to Wrexham and the next corner Wrexham really should have made it 3-1 but it was cleared off the line and then a minute before half time Kidderminster pulled it back level with Frank Sinclair slicing the ball but with 8 Wrexham players in the box and one Kidderminster player he managed to get in front and score with a header making it 2-2 at half time and that`s how the match finished.

Saunders changed from a 4-4-2 to a 4-5-1 at half time which is an absolute disgrace and the only sub he made was Mark Jones coming on who in the time he was on did okay but the game was crying out for McCluskey to come on but Saunders was obviously happy with a draw and it`s just not good enough. Next up are Swindon in the F.A.Cup.

Having seen the team news today I am now on the verge of giving up with Saunders because Marc Williams who has had more chances than any other Wrexham player is back in the starting eleven. He couldn`t score in a brothel never mind a football match and I guarantee he doesn`t score today. What the hell is Saunders playing at, it is now official that Saunders has not got a f-----g clue to pick Williams up front again. 15 games and not one goal and he is our striker. Get rid of the useless Williams now and play someone else. I would rather play with ten men than put Marc Williams in the team as he is totally useless. Wrexham make two changes from their last game with Taboubi and McCluskey in for Smith and Spann. A minutes silence is held for remembrance day and the match is off. After twenty mins its still no goals with Wrexham having about 90% possession but with no real chances so its still all to play for at The Racecourse where there are over 500 away fans, the best so far this season by any away team.

After Tuesdays match ended 2-2 at Kettering with Kettering being awarded a pen in the 95th minute of injury time I went and did some history on our last game against Kettering which was less than 3 months ago and what I found does not make good reading and its as if the referee's are determinede to give Wrexham nothing. Our last match at home against Kettering we were not awarded a clear penalty and also had a Mike Williams goal disallowed. It is not the first time we have not had a pen awarded to us and definitely wont be the last.

After going a goal behind after only 3 mins Wrexham have took control of this match and are leading 2-1 at the interval with some of the best football Wrexham have played all season and in all honestly if Wrexham were winning 4-1 then that would be a fairer scopeline as Kettering who are 3rd are just not in the same league as Wrexham because Wrexham are playing absolutely fantastic and if Wes Baynes and then Andrew Fleming had converted their great chances it would be 4-1 and while there is only one goal in it, we still got to find another goal before I will feel comfortable. On this showing it is hard to believe where Wrexham lie in the table but with Marc Williams dropped and about time too, this Wrexham side look dangerous going forward and are capable of scoring every time they attack which was not the case when Williams played. For some reason though a lot of people on the Wrexham 606 forum actually rate him even though he has not scored one goal in 13 consecutive starts for Wrexham until he was finally dropped last Saturday and his replacement Lamine Sakho, who once played on loan cu Leeds in the Premiership got the only goal and is picked again tonight in starting line up. After Wes Baynes is denied a clear penalty after a deliberate push Mike Williams gave a penalty away in the 5th min of injury time which only the ref knows where it came from and Kettering scored from the spot which cost Wrexham the win which they should have had wrapped up in the first half.
